What a great Friday! The students had a blast watching The Polar Express, eating donuts and drinking chocolate milk! The holidays are a wonderful time to make memories and that is what we did today! Next week we will continue learning as we prepare to get "Grinched". On Friday, December 14th, we will travel to the high school to see the stage presentation of "How the Grinch Stole Christmas"! We can't wait!

Happy Monday! This week will be filled with lots of learning and excitement as we anxiously await for the Polar Express! We will continue segmenting and blending, as well as review our fast words. We will also begin a new writing unit that is all about Christmas! On Friday, we will wear our pj's to school and enjoy donuts, cocoa and the movie "The Polar Express ". Pictures will follow. It is an exciting time of year so don't forget to talk to your child about all the things they are learning. Have a great week!

Welcome Back!

I hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving! We are getting back into routine and ready to learn.
This week we will continue working on segmenting and blending words, as well as finish our writing project. Our fast words for the week are as follows: if, am, on, it, in, will, my, and, can, but.
Please continue to go over these words with your child. We will also be doing an author study on David Shannon. We will be reading several of his books. A few of them are No David!, David Goes To School, Too Many Toys and The Tooth Fairy.

Happy Fall!  This week we are learning all kinds of new things.  In writing we are beginning to write a book about fall.  We took a nature walk to look for fall things to include in our stories.  The students had a blast and are very excited about publishing their work!  I can't wait for them to share their finished product.

It's hard to believe we are starting the second nine weeks of school.  We will be learning lots of new things.  Please continue to check your child's folder for information on their day, as well as homework, notes and other things that are happening at school!
Tomorrow is field trip day!  We will be visiting the pumpkin patch for a day of fun, fall activities.  Pictures will follow, so stay tuned to our class blog!
Report cards will go home Thursday.  Please be sure to sign and return them on Friday.

What a great first few weeks of school!  We have learned so many rules and procedures.  This week we began learning the letters of the alphabet and their correct formation.  The letters are Aa, Bb and Cc.  In addition to our color words we are also learning the words I, like and a.

What a great first day!  I am so excited about my 2012-2013 kindergarten class. They are going to be an AWESOME group!
